New season

In Exhibition, Gallery by LouLeave a Comment

We opened this weekend for the new season and the gallery looks lovely!

We feature new work from several of our regular artists. We have the Railway poster series by Lou McGill. We are selling framed prints at £70, A2 posters at £20, A5 postcards at £2.00 (or a full set of 12 for £20). 10% of all poster sales will be donated to the National Autistic Society. We also have a selection of cards and postcards and a range of small prints by Lou.

We have fused glass jewellery made from fused glass by Gaynor Murray, which includes earings from £8.50 to £10.00, brooches at £9.50,  rings, cufflinks, hairclips and a range of pendants from £12.50 to £30.

We have some work by our local ceramacist, Peter Wareing including his decorative bowls and a beautiful Scone Palace Garden vase, featuring fantastic peacock feathers.

In December we included some really practical metal works by Gordon Whaling and will continue to feature some of his work this season.

We also have original painting by local painter Kevan McGinty and a series of mounted and framed prints.

We also feature for the first time Liz Perry, a local painter and printmaker. The work included in this new season is her Fantasy Fish paintings, which are also available as posters.

We are big fans of Lynn Morley’s stained glass work and she has created a whole new series of glass for the new season.

These include some delightful tulips on wooden stands and a range based on local scenery around the Machars.

Lynn chooses her glass with care and we are sure this series will be as popular as the last one, as she captures the colours of the sand, sea and sky in this region perfectly.

We usually sell out of Lynn’s work fairly quickly so if you are a fan then don’t leave it too late.

The range includes her popular self standing tea lights, some lovely panels that hang on chains, as well as a larger piece on a metal stand.

Gallery New season

We feature work from two of the Galloway Creatives Group – Caroline from Elegant Originals and Fran Raw, The Mochrum Artist.

Carolines work includes her gorgeous felted scarves and wraps, felted tealights, and hand felted  lavender and rose felt hearts, belted galloways and sheep.

Fran recently joined us as a regular and we have a lovely wall hanging entitled ‘Glentrool Twilight ‘ and two smaller framed works which can be hung on a wall or stood on a shelf. Fran combines a range of materials with her textiles to create imaginative and tactile pieces.

We will also soon be featuring hand crocheted jewellery by Beth Currie from Red Squirrel Crafts and photography from Dave and Beth Currie of Galloway Photography, both of whom are also part of the Galloway Creatives.

We hope you get the chance to visit us during April. The exhibition will change in May for our May/June exhibition which is entitled Wings of Desire – Art Inspired by Cinema. We know there is some really exciting  work being prepared for this exhibition.
