The Gallery has been closed since December 2014 as owners Tim and Lou were unable to open it in 2015 due to family illness. They have since moved away from Whithorn. However, the good news is that the gallery is re-opening this Saturday 6th June 2015 under new management.
We would like to introduce you to Sheila Faichney who has taken over the gallery. Sheila is an artist and illustrator who worked with the Maggie Mundy agency in the 1980s. She opened her first gallery in Orkney in the 90s, and went off to work in marketing around 2000. Her inspiration comes from the illustrators whose work graced the books and poetry of her own childhood, and that of her son, when she revisited all the wonderful books there are for children.
The gallery will be showing and selling a selection of work in paint, print and 3D by Sheila. It will also include work by Lou McGill, including jewellery, prints and cards, as well as art from artists and makers around the Machars. The artwork will also be complemented by whimsical, beautiful or useful vintage collectables.
Open from 6th June 2015:
11am – 4.30pm Tuesday, Friday, Saturday
2pm – 5pm on Sunday until 31 October
November to March:
11am – 4pm Friday and Saturday
